2010



The 16th Annual TPC Auction was held on 17 September 2010. We smashed the $1 million mark in total funds raised, and it was one of the most successful auctions yet. A total of $190,000 was raised and the funds have been allocated as follows ($7,000 retained for 2011 luncheon): $87,000 Te Aranui Youth Trust $87,000 Tauranga Community Housing Trust $9,000 Omanu Beach Surf Life Saving Club
2009


On 23 October 2009, the annual Charity Luncheon was hosted at Baypark Stadium, Mt Maunganui. The event was again a sell-out with 700 guests in attendance to listen to MC Tony JOHNSON, Sky Sport Rugby Commentator, and guest speaker, Anthony HERBERT, ex World Cup winning Wallaby. Through local support, 90 auction items were sold and included a large number of sporting memorabilia, gift packages. The top items included Super 14 Hospitality Package, 9' Retro Bonzor Classic Semi Gun longboard; Willie Apiata VC signed shirt; 2009 All Whites shirt; luxury accommodation packages; All Black Jersey signed by Sir Colin Meads and Stan Meads; David Tua boxing gloves; speaking engagement with previous guest speaker Dick Tayler. The two major items attracting the highest bids were a painting by Kate Jones-Madill, $10,000.00, and a 10% share in a racehorse donated by Waikato Stud, $30,000. Cameo guest speaking roles were given by John Adshead, ex All Whites coach, Dick Tayler, Commonwealth Games gold medallist, and Sir Colin Meads. The luncheon raised a total of $175,000 profit which was donated this year to: Positive Pathways counselling service - $75,000, Riding for the Disabled - $75,00 and Omanu Surf Club - purchase of brand new IRB - $25,000 The luncheon was an overwhelming success and enjoyed by all. Police Officers from throughout BOP, Waikato and Auckland attended, along with many other business people throughout NZ who are all regular supporters of this function. Other celebrities who attended included Bernie McCahill, Errol Brain, Bryce Lawrence, Simon Bridges MP, Martin Devlin, Gordon Tietjens.
2008


2007


For the first time profits were shared between three charity recipients. Homes of Hope is a local organisation formed to give support to separated families and assist with foster care for children in these situations. The money donated assisted with the day-to-day services equired. Millennium Trust is a Trust set up to provide an all weather running track at the Tauranga Domain at a cost of 1.5 million dollars. The donation made from the luncheon assisted greatly towards enabling this asset being constructed. Halberg Trust BOP received a portion of monies raised; this money going towards promoting and providing grants to young people with disabilities under the age of 18 to be involved in sporting activities.
2006


For the first time the profits were shared between two charity recipients.Waipuna Hospice used their portion of funds raised to assist with a 3 million dollar expansion and redevelopment of their premises at Te Puna. Waipuna Hospice being a major leader in caring for terminally ill patients of their families in the Western Bay of Plenty, with a strong emphasis on providing care and support for patients in their own homes.Conductive Education used their funds to continue the teaching and rehabilitation of pre-school children who suffer from motor disorders in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato areas; the majority of the children suffering from Cerebal Palsy. A portion of the donated funds were invested with the long term goal of obtaining their own premises.
2005


The local BOP Downs Syndrome was the chosen charity for 2005 and the money raised was a major injection to an under funded charity. The donation made enabled a major increase in education and financial support to be delivered to families affected by this disability. A large proportion of the money has been spread over several years to assist with seminars and conferences to be heavily subsidised and has made a major difference to families involved.
2004


This being the first luncheon at the new venue of Baypark, with a major increase in guest attendance and auction items, resulting in a significant amount of money raised. Decision Reach Out Trust was again the recipient and used the money raised to continue their work, with Bay of Plenty secondary school students being offered scholarships to attend leadership courses at Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
2003


Yellow Ribbon was again the chosen charity and the money raised continued their efforts to address awareness around youth suicide, with a focus on reducing the high number of suicides, problems and fears amongst young people. MC Detective Peter Blackwell
2002


Yellow Ribbon was the chosen charity for 2002 and the money raised was used in the Bay of Plenty area of Yellow Ribbon, and was used in education of Tauranga secondary schools and the community relating to encouraging young persons to talk about and deal with problems and fears, including youth suicide prevention. 2001


This Trust was again the recipient of funds raised and money used in the same area of financial support towards scholarships to attend leadership courses at Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
